About The Cherokee Nation
The Cherokee Nation is an active leader in education, housing, vocational training, business and economic development. We are the largest Native American tribe in the United States with over 390,000 tribal citizens. More than 141,000 citizens reside within the tribe’s 14 county reservation in northeastern Oklahoma.
Cherokee Nation Health Services (CNHS) operates an accredited network of nine health centers and one hospital located throughout the reservation. Our health system and associated programs serve more than 130,000 eligible patients annually.
CNHS promotes and encourages a highly skilled workforce and partners with multiple residential programs, colleges, universities and technical schools to provide training opportunities for medical, nursing, dental and allied health professionals. This includes the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at Cherokee Nation, which is located on the CNHS Tahlequah Campus. Our resident programs include rotations through different specialties to ensure participants are prepared to care for patients throughout their life. CNHS medical professionals have the expertise and experience to prepare the residents to become highly qualified providers as well.
